Pop quiz, which company developed and published the most games for the PS1? 989? EA? 3DO? No, you're all wrong. It was Lightspan Incorporated with a library of at least 120 known games, though many of these titles were featured in catalogs available for order and none have shown up in the collector's market.

Aiming to take a massive chunk of the education stimulus package signed into law by President Bill Clinton in the 1990's, Lightspan set out to develop a suite of "educational" software for the PS1 so that they could sell their bundles of discs and PS1's for grossly inflated prices. These games were not available in stores, they were only offered direct to educational institutions which is what makes them a rarity. It's also why so many games from Lightspan are technically "lost" because while copies of some games might be extant, none have been properly dumped.

Draco took a gamble on what looks like a "starter set" of Lightspan games that he saw in a retro game store. Here's his introduction for you all to the Lightspan company.
