As expected, Link is no good at fighting bosses. While his attacks can deal heavy damage, the extreme time they take to finish give Link one of the slowest damage rates. So despite being a power character, he can't actually kill bosses quickly, making what should be his strength against bosses a weakness. Link is additionally no good at dodging attacks, and the extremely limited time he can be airborne does prevent counterattacking opportunities.

As expected, the Duon was a significant obstacle to Link just like to another slow plodding swordsman. Though unlike that other slow plodding swordsman, Link somehow doesn't get screwed over by the Duon's charge attacks, making him not quite as much a nightmare to no damage in the SSE with Link as it was with Ike. What does screw over Link though are the Duon's Homing Missiles, as when Link is on the other side, if the Duon decides to use his spin attack, Link will get hit or die, as he cannot stay offstage long enough to avoid it. In this run, I managed to get behind the Duon during Homing Missiles twice without him spinning afterward, though it's safer to try destroying the missiles with Link's projectiles (though that of course makes the Duon take much longer to kill).

Tabuu was also very hard to no damage with Link, as he often forces use of Link's inefficient aerials, and Link's limited aerial capabilities really hurt him here. On the plus side, Link can safely keep forward smashing Tabuu's chin during his Giant Eye Lasers, allowing Link to safely deal some serious damage during that attack and help make up a little for Link's incapability of counterattacking Tabuu during many of his other attacks. Other bosses maintain their usual difficulty.
