Borderlands opens a pre-game Launcher when the Play button in Steam is clicked. The launcher does not work on Linux that I was able to find. However, by renaming "BorderlandsGOTY.exe" to "Launcher.exe" the game will start without issue. Any graphical settings that might be modified from the Launcher can be modified from the in-game menu.
