The game runs smoothly with DXVK but performs better with Gallium Nine. You would enjoy this game more playing with a Xbox one controller, just remember to set xinput dll files to builtin in winecfg.

sudo apt install libd3dadapter9-mesa libd3dadapter9-mesa:i386

and also use software update tool from Ubuntu to upgrade all the remaining packages
