Dear GOD. How on earth did we get HERE of all places!? FUCK me.

Honestly having taken in all the theories and explanations i can in fact decree that no. No this doesn't get better with any greater "context" or "rationale." This truly feels like someone who did not understand the source material beyond a surface level and tried to add on to those surface level themes while disregarding or outright damaging the original. Unironically adding in "magic ghosts" to explain to people the plot is so astronomically stupid of a writing maneuver. When the entire point of the original was that as an outsider with better information we can see where the character went wrong and how their own perspectives prevented them from making better decisions. But instead now we have magic ghosts that just outright TELL our character how to feel, making that entire piece of ludo narrative absent and deprives all the character of their own agency. That whole final drug dream sequence was some kind of a metaphor for "opening your mind and perspective" with the very obvious connections between buddies skull literally opening up and having "new things" grow within to symbolize her attaining the knowledge to make the better decision. And they can rationalize that all they want but dear sweet jesus. You can boil all that down to "Buddy learned lore she couldn't know because post mortem ghosts magically inject lore into her" in a world without ANYTHING resembling that kind of magic or spirituality.

And all of this is just that one dream sequence. I'm not even getting into buddy ripping into buzzo who she barely knows about things she couldn't know over things she's not meant to really know how to feel about, namely brad of course. Nor am i getting into the very odd "maybe real maybe fake warlord ghosts(?)" that try to kill her, are they manifestations of her guilt? why is she feeling guilty all of a sudden? Why would she feel guilty for people she never met nor killed? Why doesn't that guilt manifest when having to face Yado and continuing her bloody path? Or are they real ghosts and not metaphorical, in which case why are the warlords she never seen before trying to kill her? Why do they just give up at a point and let you leave? And a hundred other complaints i could levy.
I gotta say, man i fucking LOVE lisa as a series. I truly do, i didn't harp on about it during these vods if it wasn't true, and i wouldn't get extremely hyped to get to play hopeless, pointless' monster update. and other fan games beyond that. But Dingaling, my guy, This game needed just a little bit of love, small tweaks and a few extra fluffs to make it shine. You already had a proper 10/10 on your hands. You didn't need to step on the design of the original and write over its plot. It's a damn shame, lisa the definitive edition is less a definitive edition and more definitively an endurance test of my patient.

Also who the fuck was that big lady
