AMD's R9 3900XT isn't really worth it versus the original R9 3900X at a lower price, at least for out-of-box use, but one note we had in our reviews was that it may be more interesting for enthusiast-level tuning. The CPU could potentially have better silicon quality than early 3900X samples, which we can test against, and may even clock higher under liquid nitrogen. Most realistically, we'd expect better frequency at a given voltage (Vcore) for the newer XT CPUs, and we've shown that already in the 3600XT review.
Test bench setup is below. Please note that MANY OF THESE PARTS are way overkill; that's because we use the same high-end parts for most our streams, with the goal being stability in the stream (we trust them/know they work well).
