Live from Khartoum in Sudan on Saturday, April 22, a week after heavy clashes began between the army and paramilitary forces.
At least 413 people have been killed and 3,700 others injured since the fighting erupted just over a week ago, according to UN agencies. A number of countries including the US, China, the UK and Spain, have launched emergency missions to rescue their diplomats and citizens.
A military council has run the country since a coup in 2021, although tensions have risen between the two leaders over the country’s direction, the integration of the RSF into the army, and the planned transition to civilian rule. The council of generals took over from a joint military-civilian government, which ousted President Omar al-Bashir in 2019.
