The LM3886 is probably the most popular chip amplifier in the DIY audio community. And for a good reason. With the right layout and components, you can build a Hi-Fi amplifier that sounds better than some retail amps selling for thousands of dollars. In this video, I'm going to show you how I designed my stereo LM3886 amplifier. First I'll show you the schematic, and explain what each component does. I'll show you how to change the amp's gain, how to set the upper and lower cutoff frequencies of the amp's bandwidth, and use some RC filters that eliminate noise and interference. Then I'll show you the PCB I designed, and give you some tips on laying out an amplifier PCB to avoid ground loops and hum. At the end of the video, I'll wire the amp up and play some music so you can hear what it sounds like...
