Load Extensions Not From Chrome Web Store Post 33 Update

UPDATE: Been fooling around with the DEV channel of chrome, it seems to be pretty stable, it comes with a lot of features you don't need but it works :P you can download it here: https://www.google.com/intl/en/chrome/browser/index.html?extra=devchannel&standalone=1#eula Once its finished downloading just close chrome and install it, then open chrome back up and you shouldn't even notice a thing other then your extensions working :) hope it works.

Simple instructional video on how to install chrome extensions that are not in the store, or re enable them. Sorry for using note pad, I'm to lazy to edit the video :P, also pretend I can't enable the extension...

If you have existing extensions that where disabled, follow these steps:

1. Click the developer mode check box. When you do this, Copy the seemingly random string of letters after ID:

3. open up my computer and type "%appdata%" in the folder path, this will bring you to roaming files. Back out of that folder into the app data folder and follow this path: "Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Extensions" In here you will find a bunch of folders with ID letters on it.

4. Find the folder with matching ID and open it up, inside you should find another folder, open it up to. Copy the folder path and open chrome back up.

2. Remove the extension from the list.

5. Click "Load unpacked extension" and paste the folder path into the the box and click okay.

6. Congratulations C: a small box will appear in the top left saying you have extensions running that are not in the chrome store and to stop it disable developer mode, bla bla bla, just click cancel.

For those who want to install a new extension, the steps are a lot easier but they do require some sort of extraction software, I prefer WinRAR.

1. Download your extension.

2. Right click on it and choose the software of your choice.

3. Extract it to somewhere that you wont often see it since this folder will have to stay where it is.

4. Open the extensions tab and make make sure developer mode is checked.

5. lick "Load unpacked extension" and either navigate to the folder you picked or follow instructions similar to the first half of the video.
