A completely free Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird add-on pack for Microsoft Flight Simulator X featuring three different SR-71 models from three different developers.

Models included:

1. Lockheed SR-71 (GMax Academy SR-71) by Danny Garnier
This model was originally developed for FS2004 but updated and ported over by Danny Garnier. It features full VC (virtual cockpit) and 2D panels.

2. Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird Project by Ross McLennan
This is the model featured in the video above. It was (at its time) the best SR-71 freeware available for FSX. It features everything you can expect from a freeware release and also has a nice parachute that can be deployed when landing (as shown in the video). It also has some nice engine effects when the afterburners are running.

3. Alphasim SR-71A Blackbird Update by Bob Chicilo
Possible the most famous SR-71 add-on (but not necessarily the best) was the Alphasim version for FS2004. This model has been brought up to FSX spec by Bob Chicilo and includes all the bells and whistles you can expect.

Most of the three files above included detailed README documents and even flight manuals.

While this add-on is compatible with Prepar3D, it has not been tested for compatibility with any Prepar3D versions later than v3 (P3Dv4/P3Dv5, etc).

LEGACY ADD-ON

This video was created in Microsoft Flight Simulator X (2006 release).
