Log Loading for Beginners

Terms used:
Butts - Base of the trees
Tops - Top end of the trees
Tier - A stacked section of logs
Crosser - A log used to separate tiers
Swing - The rotation of the machine
Boom - The boom arm is the closest to the cab of the machine.
Stick - The stick arm is connected to the boom.
Grapple/Jaws - Located at the end of the stick. This mechanism
holds the wood. The single jaw is the side with one solid
piece, The double jaw is split into two. The single jaw
positions itself between the double jaw.
Stabilizer - When the grapple/Jaws close to grab the wood, the stabilizers are the parts that come
down creating pressure so the wood doesn't move. Typically there is a stabilizer on each
side of the grapple.
Overhang - The amount of wood that surpasses the rear of the trailer.
