Welcome back to GTR today as Mark is investigating the news that Logitech will be moving away from mouse and keyboards to develop new innovative products, including those for gamers.
Logitech is famous for its expansive amount of PC peripherals, including mouses, keyboards and webcams - both for gaming and everyday use. However Logitech today stated that they were going to move away from their 'mouse and keyboard' legacy.
Already edging towards smart products like smart remote controls, and cameras, Logitech wants to be known an an 'innovative brand', one whom make new and exciting products, rather than mouses and normal peripherals we're all use to.
Logitech have already launched a new separate sub-brand called Logi - a group of new products with simplicity and innovation in mind, proving that they are serious about the development. It is however unlikely we'll see Logitech (or Logi) create any sort of virtual reality or smart watch, which are both booming in popularity. Logitech CEO Bracken Darrell emphasized that he wants Logitech to be a "small" company, and doesn't want to play in already-competitive spaces. He wants Logitech to break through intro markets where they can be "the big fish".
CEO Bracken Darrell confirmed that they already have 6 or 7 new products in development, with fewer staff working on mice and keyboards. Logitech re-invest 6% of its income on research and development, most of which is going on these new products, as Darrell stated in an interview with VentureBeat.
