Lognplay a Indie | A Vampyre Story (2008)[Longplay][p1 of x] A Unpolished Stale Comedy of Puns
Some adventure geeks out there, called this the best Lucas Arts-like game out there , made by Bill Tiller the artist behind Lucas Arts games... played it , what bs ... stale puns , jank movement , padding wherever you go , clueles-ness what to do next ... not to mention a jank interface, that without anything just throws you in ... in a game that has art , but not the foggiest how to glue it to work properly ...
In other words , its a indie game that was developed in pain from 2004 to 2008 on speck and debt. By a team of people , that made art for Lucas Arts games . That knew how to make them look to sell , but did not had the main Talent from Lucas Arts (Script Writers) to make this game work and shine (polish the game design by cutting fat) . So you end up with a unfinished tale ...
oh and the prequel\sequel is in TBA mode slow dev hell ... with speck funds , with a failed kickstarter... since by the end of the day a adventure is not sold by its art , but by its strong script\game design ... and here is stinks
A fine example how this game was not play-tested to shine is the Item mechanic ... so MONA uses MAGIC to TELEPORT objects into her COFFIN ... simple , but SOME OBJECTS she will not pick since she does not want to DRAG THEM ... on what are you on Lady ? You teleport them to your coffin!!!! , you don't drag them!!!! ... SO , items she will not pick up , are placed in your INVENTORY AS ITEMS but are BLUE ... so what happens when you use a BLUE ITEM ON A THING YOU HAVE TO USE ... how about you TELEPORT , wait 15 SECONDS FOR A SCENE TO LOAD ON A BLACK SCREEN , then you get a ANIMATION SHE PICKS THE OBJECT , TELEPORTS then YOU WAIT 15 SECONDS AGAIN ON A BLACK SCREEN! to load the scene you where, so she will use the object ... in a normal test environment she would pick up the object, or Teleport and Re-Teleport in a flash to NOT LET YOU WAIT 30 to 45 SEC ON BLACK SCREENS ... and then looking at pointless picking up animations of objects
And this is just the tip of the Ice Berg , how ART CAME FIRST then polished FUN GAME DESIGN... from Missing hints to push you to the objectives you have to do in normal conversations (some are there , but the BAT SIDEKICK should after 60 of STUCK help you by saying something )... to countless animations bugs and so on ... art above game design ... hmmmm
