Long lens filming tutorial & IRL video part analysis with Mason Silva and Chris Wimer | Session
TIMESTAMPS FIRST, LORE BELOW
This is an extremely long and in-depth video about filming skateboarding long lens shots. But rather than approaching it as entertainment, let's see this as a thorough document. Different sections will be of interest to different people. And so I timestamped everything for easy reference. Theoretical descriptions, IRL references, IRL video analysis, Step by step structure for keyframes in Session, and much more, it's all here. I don't expect anyone to be watching the whole video from start to finish.

LORE
I recorded these segments over 3 days in November or December 2024. I had to re-record the middle section because of the audio corruption. Editing took me 4 or maybe 5 months. I have no idea how many hours I've put into this project. Why do I do this to myself? I don't know. I needed this video to exist in the form that it currently does. Somehow I've convinced myself that this video can help literally anyone who is interested in learning, Session players or just people filming IRL, it can take them from "wtf even is a long lens shot?" to "I KNOW LONG LENS" (the way Neo said it in the matrix). Time will tell, and frankly I don't really care what time has to say at this point. I needed this video to be made, it is now made, I am satisfied.
