Your following of tiny people grows. More and more begin to worship you. As your strength increases, so does your resolve. To run. To win. To pass this power on to the next generation.
So you run. The competition is fierce, taking on various shapes, sizes, and backgrounds, worshipped by followers of their own. There are times when you stumble. There are times where you simply cannot continue on as lightning and heat rays batter your body. But through it all, you hear the cheering of your people - and, finally, you win.
And you win again.
Again and again, you follow the rhythm of your footsteps. The heart of the race now lives in you. Your experiences, your hardships, your losses and your victories all spiral together into a pool of genetic resources intended for the one to come after. More and more riches are mined while time leaps forward in the blink of an eye.
Then, suddenly, your followers begin to leave.
Day by day, one by one, their frail bodies and white hairs vanish in the wind. Those you knew your entire life, and some who only recently became enamored with your glorious history, disappear without a word.
The green world has withered away. Food has become scarce, while cold machines tear apart the earth, uncovering all the riches they can find. The skies have become cold and dark. And deep in your heart, in your burning soul, you feel it - you are dying.
But though your living shell has nearly met its end, you remain committed to your first love. You run. Your followers cheer.
You rest in your canyon. Though there are many more victories left to win, and many more races left to experience, you are satisfied with your legacy. Your form gives way as the clock strikes midnight. Your praying followers look to you with sadness and reverence. Time finally stands still as you turn towards them, then to the shining tunnel, beckoning you to your final reward.
