2PLOT (So Far)
After nearly getting crushed in an avalanche, Jack makes quick progress as he tears up the industrial area of Denver. He soon faces experienced drivers, congested traffic, and hazardous tracks as he drives in the middle of a thunderstorm booming throughout the Great Plains. Luckily, he survives as he plows through rural Wisconsin.
As he reaches the outskirts of Chicago, Jack encounters Marcus once again, qualifying only by the skin of his teeth after he tried to knock him out. Things further intensify after Marcus’ thugs then try to kill him when he reaches downtown Chicago. Jack soon steals a police cruiser, where he desperately tries to escape a mob helicopter shooting at him. However, he crashes in a train yard, where he nearly gets run over by a freight train. Sam tries to convince him that he should drop out of the race after he nearly got killed, but, knowing that the Run is his only chance of getting mollifying the mob, he ignores her as he heads to an Audi dealership to steal yet another car.
Jack then blazes through Chicago and the freeways of the Rust Belt. However, he soon faces more of Marcus’ mercenaries as they chase him into Ohio. He then attempts to lose them in the factories of Cleveland. Dodging train cars, explosive barrels, and gunfire, Jack destroys the mobster helicopter as he finally escapes his rival’s goons. Desperate for another ride, Sam tells Jack that to visit a garage owned by a reclusive mechanic named Uri, who has a collection of powerful sports cars. Jack then heads there and takes one of his supercars.
Jack soon reaches the Appalachian Mountains, where he faces Mila once more and the cops’ last ditch effort to capture him. He then reaches the final miles of his journey as he duels with De Leon and Garrett once more in the fringe of New York. At long last, Jack faces Marcus for the last time as he duels with him for the pole position. The duo faces intense traffic, heavy curves, and a nightmarish final drive through the Port of New York. As Jack races to victory, Marcus gets his comeuppance after wrecking out feet away from the finish line.
Victorious, Jack reunites with Sam at an inner city diner once the heat dies down. They talk about how the payout alleviates his problems and could allow him to take a sabbatical from the racing scene. However, Sam entices Jack once more when she says that he could double his money if he in another race. In the game’s final moments, Jack is seen in a modified Mustang tearing up a remote strip of desert highway. With his life back to normal, he smiles gleefully as he sees a horde of police officers in his rearview mirror, their sirens squealing in anger.
