[Longplay] NES - Donkey Kong (HD, 60FPS)
Played by xRavenXP (me)
This is the longplay (???) of the game Donkey Kong, a platform game first released in the Arcades and then in the home consoles, where it marked the first appearance of the character Jumpman (who in future would be called Mario), who must rescue a damsel in distress, Lady (now known as Pauline) from the threat of a giant monkey named Donkey Kong. The hero and the monkey later became two of Nintendo's most popular characters.
Donkey Kong was the latest in a series of efforts by Nintendo to enter the North American gaming market. Hiroshi Yamauchi, the president of Nintendo at the time, delegated the project to a beginner game designer: Shigeru Miyamoto. Taking a wide range of inspirations, including Popeye and King Kong, Miyamoto developed the scenario and designed the game in conjunction with Nintendo's chief engineer, Gunpei Yokoi.
It was a very successful game in the 1980s, which opened Nintendo's doors to the Western market and even surrendered MCA's lawsuit, which accused Nintendo of plagiarizing King Kong, but thanks to the brilliant defense of Howard Lincoln, the Nintendo was the winner of this dispute
The idea of having a plumber rescue a princess from the clutches of a monkey in a construction initially did not please Nintendo executives much, but captivated millions of players around the world.
