Lord of the Rings Online-Skirmish
1This video features one of the unique items in LOTRO called a skirmish. It is a battle you can enter from anywhere in the world that is like facing a scripted Alterac Valley in WOW.
Once you turn level 20, you can enter some intro skirmishes to get you used to the system and how it works. When completed, skirmishes open up to you via the instance join panel. In this one, I am doing a level 23 (as a level 25 champ), tier 1 skirmish called Troubled in Tuckborough. My companion is a warrior specced into DPS.
Skirmishes offer a way of getting experience and marks without having to quest or grind. It's a good respite from a day spent running around. You can adjust the difficulty and even the size ranging from solo to duo to large groups. If you lower the difficulty, you have a better chance of surviving but lower your mark drop rate.
In the video around the 4:50 mark, Palantir (the hud) had an error which forced me to unload it. You'll see me fight 2 optional encounters in this one. One is the hound at the farm, the other is a bog creature.
