In Outland the Horde was hoping to reunite with some old allies who had stayed behind on Dreanor, to their suprise however, these old friends had become demon crazed and openly served Illidan and the Burning Legion. Kargath Bladefist and his Shattered hand clan had in fact retaken Hellfire Citadel for themselves and Tagar Spinebreaker and his Bonechewer Clan were stationed in Hellfire Peninsula defending Hellfire Citadel, also stationed there were several members of the Bleeding hollow clan which had splintered from Jorin Deadeye's leadership to serve Illidan.

In Nagrand you could find the rest of the Bleeding Hollow under the leadership of Jorin Deadeye, he stationed himself in the village of Garadar when he was chased out of Terrokar forest by a clan of Ogres. Moving further into Outland it seems that Shadowmoon Valley had been taken over by Zuluhed the Whacked and the Draenor branch of his Dragonmaw clan they had found new dragons to enslave, and last but not least Illidan Stormrage had taken control of the Shadowmoon Clan and was using them as his own personal body guards.

The Horde was forced to kill those who were once fierce allies, and on top of that when the Blood elves encountered their king it turns out he became a lackey of Illidan and the Burning Legion as well. Conflicted by this development they turned to the steward of their nation, Lorthemar Theron and he threw his lot in with the Horde pledging to follow them wherever they may lead.

During this expedition to Outland the Horde discovered strange looking Orcs named Mag'har, they were uncorrupted and brown skinned, you see the demonic energies the Orcs were exposed too before the First War turned them from brown to green. The Mag'har were secluded, sick and unable to attend any battles or gatherings of the Horde as a result when they were cured they remained untainted by the fel energies that had mutated their brethren.

When news of this reached Thrall he rushed to Outland along with his chief shaman Drek'thar, in the land of Nagrand he went to the village of Garadar and he met Jorin Deadeye, Great mother Geyah, and a downtrodden and depressed Garrosh Hellscream. It seems that Garrosh didn't know much about his father and thought that he was nothing more than a cursed wretch who drank the demon blood and doomed his clan and his race. Thrall and the heroes of the Horde showed him otherwise, upon seeing the honor his father had brought to the Hellscream name Garrosh threw back his head and gave his own hellscream.

With all this under wraps heroes of both the Horde and the Alliance went after Illidan and his allies. First going after Kael'thas in his arcane fortress of Tempest keep and then going after Lady Vashj and her naga deep inside a massive lake in the Zangarmarsh. Finally it was time for Illidan to pay for his crimes so the heroes marched onto the Black Temple. With the help of Akama Illidan's former right hand, and the Night elf Warden Maiev Shadowsong he was defeated and Outland was free from his oppression. After Illidans defeat many of the Burning Legion's now unemployed warlocks set their eyes on Azeroth once more.
