The Light SRM carrier was built as a cheap and easily mass produced combat vehicle by the Taurian Concordat with the express purpose of being sold to other Periphery states as a show of unity against the powers of the Great Houses. Though it sacrifices some of the normal SRM carriers firepower it does become faster and slightly more protected by comparison.
