Lost Kingdoms 2, 480p@30 with widescreen using Nintendont
I just started Lost Kingdoms 2 and it's such a good sequel, while the game no longer runs at 60 frames the presentation and the gameplay are far superior.
The camera can now be controlled at more than 4 angles there is less clutter on the screen (the map can still be accessed in the menu and is now more helpful).
They removed the jRPG esque random encounters in favor of free roam battle system which works so well considering how allot of the first game's difficulty came from just not having any place to avoid attacks and there being too much stuff on the ground you get stuck on you could not see due to camera perspective.
You have 2 camera modes to choose a top down one, like the first game, or the third person camera and you do that with c stick up and down pressing the c stick one more time locks on to the target that currently has a yellow fairy above it and when locked on you can even swap between targets with left and right.
30 card limit is back but it's far less annoying this time around, you can now decide to give a card more power with Z+face button. it'll consume 2x as much magic but it'll do way more damage than normally. Also if you decide to abort mission you seems to still keep all puzzle items (that's my experience so far at least), on top of all the cards you picked up and all exp points you gained.
Also now this game is a proper RPG with leveling as oppose to your HP and MP being decided by how far into the story you are, they also added a class system for cards (they'll cost more if your level is not appropriate or something havent figured it out yet).
AAAAnd they also removed the probability that a blue fairy is a monster (they can only heal mp HP or cards), I HATED that mechanic in the first one it made me avoid all blue fairies altogether cause on top of them possibly having monsters in them they were damn near impossible to catch cause they were just as fast as potato sack princess.
On a small note allot of the music I've heard so far are remixes of the soundtrack from the first game and they're quite catchy. The game now also has voice acting in English and not just random shouts in battles or at the start of a dialogue, there are quite few scenes with voice overs.
In conclusion if you're gonna play ONE Lost kingdoms game, pick the second one.
Onto Nintendont, It forces 480p no problem AND the widescreen hack works, it stretches all 2D assets but I dont mind It. Actually preffer this to what it does in allot other gamecube games where the actual menus are centered in the middle in black space or you just get weird stuff all over. I also set the width of the resolution to 720 as oppose to 640 I think it looks better and it saves me the trouble of setting it up myself.
