Finally it seems we're getting discounts from the lumber mills! Anyway at 10:10 I was panicking. Didn't even use the War Chant to provide bonus armor and thus keep more troops alive.

I was trying to do the impossibly by outmaneuvering a fast moving enemy attack group. A bad choice indeed. Near the late game, I often panic when our army attacks the enemy camp's central building. We need to keep 1 building alive in the enemy camp so the mission doesn't end too soon and the center building kind of provides the least benefits.
