Love heals the heart! Discovered that oxytocin has the ability to repair cells in the heart
Experts stated that when the person has a heart attack, the cardiomyocyte cells that cause the heart to contract die in large quantities and cannot regenerate themselves, but found that oxytocin stimulates the stem cells in the outer layer of the heart and directs these cells to the middle layer, and then turns into cardiomyocytes. "We have shown in experiments that oxytocin can activate repair mechanisms in damaged hearts in zebrafish and human cell cultures and can be used to open the door to potential new treatments for heart regeneration in humans," said Dr Aitor Aguirre, lead author of the study. While the research's findings are published in the journal Frontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology, Aguirre said that even if heart regeneration is only partial, the benefits of oxytocin for patients could be enormous and they will continue trials.
