Love is Strange, a fan-made visual of the DONTNOD Entertainment game Life is Strange, follows the story of Max Caulfield in her second year at Blackwell Academy. She’s spent the last year reuniting with her best friend, Chloe Price, and meeting and getting to know the other students of Blackwell, like Kate Marsh, Rachel Amber, and Victoria Chase.
Life is Strange is an episodic graphic adventure video game developed by Dontnod Entertainment and published by Square Enix. The game's plot focuses on Maxine Caulfield, a photography student who discovers that she has the ability to rewind time at any moment, leading her every choice to enact the butterfly effect. After having left Arcadia Bay for Seattle, Max Caulfield now returns to her hometown to study at the prestigious Blackwell Academy.
In the Love is Strange visual novel, the game’s backstory is roughly the same as Life is Strange, where Max returns to Arcadia Bay from Seattle. She’s still pursuing her dream of becoming a photographer – and the game itself reflects that throughout.
The name of the Love is Strange visual novel is meant to represent the fact that the game revolves around having the option to romance the 4 different love interests in the game (Chloe, Rachel, Kate, and Victoria). The user plays as Max, who can make dialogue and action decisions throughout that affects how the world and its characters interact with you.
Love is Strange visual novel is set in a normal!AU, and Max does not possess any time powers whatsoever (and Rachel Amber is very much alive). The game hopes to capture a sense of growing adolescence and love, built by bonds through time and moments of compassion.
This video is a playthrough of the Love is Strange visual novel DEMO, which contains a preview of the Chloe route. The entire Love is Strange visual novel is slated to be released in early 2016.
