I had some issues with the previous episode of Lovecraft Country, I think that was pretty clear in my review. But I honestly didn't realize that the show was easing me into disappointment before calling in the goons to beat my hopes into the ground where they may never rise again. Ok, that's slightly hyperbolic, but not by much.
