Low Life Cold Acid Flask Falconer | Explosive Cold Umbral Blades Test VS 1385 Boss - Last Epoch

- Dawnfall doesn't work with the bird's thrown blades so only take 1 point in it.
- After further testing, letting the blades spin vs 1406 boss is about 10-15s slower.
Test letting the blades explode instead of spin on contact.
Umbral Blade damage ramps up as you stack dusk shroud off of Trap spam which also scales the damage of ailments it applies ie. frostbite. 8% damage per dusk shroud. Umbral blades only scales with cold dam/dex/throwing attack dam and there are no DoT nodes sadly. The Edge of Obscurity node is insane; when dusk shroud is stacked you get 800k-1m tooltip. We've got a fucktonne of dusk shroud from both Trap spam & Shroud of Dusk so it's free scaling. The bird can throw 3 zero-cost Umbral Blades every Aerial Assault which is 3.1s or less and they seek out enemies and explode applying frostbite on hit; the 85% off Vial being a "cold hit" + our sheet FOH. They can freeze and chill enemies. The bladestorms last 4.8s and hit 3 times per sec if you went the spinning route and don't scale with attack speed. Only 1 blade can hit an enemy, stunting boss damage. We won't be manually casting it.
The vid shows the explosive version, the other option is letting the blades spin which would mean maxing 4/4 Steel Torrent and removing Explosive Blades and Explosive Agony. Again, only one blade can hit the boss though. The issue with letting the blades spin is recasting Aerial removes the previous 3 blades whereas the shard explosions do more damage the longer they're out from Burst of Agony. Better value vs bosses. The explosive setup seems to be the higher dps setup from testing so far. The shard explosions from Explosive Blades converts to cold.
This is faster than Smoke Bomb shadows throwing Traps but we're squishier. Now we could look at going more cold damage on gear to scale all 3 of Acid Flask, Umbral Blades and frostbite, at least over DoT rolls. A hybrid crit/frostbite on hit setup might be viable but it's probably best on bladedancer and you'd have to both manually cast it + spam Trap = aids.

How the build does damage: spam Trap detonations to fling multiple Flasks that stack frostbite DoTs.
How to sustain mana: T7 throwing cost red rings x2, 'mana gained on potion use' experimental affix on belt, Sapping Strikes x direct Flask cast (x2 value with Elecoe), 6/6 Rover Stamina mana regen/mana on dodge, Hunter's Spoils, Aerial Assault- Refreshing Resolve.
How to get more DPS:
- Change vit idols to poison on hit. x4 20% 3x1 & x2 11% 2x1 idols can get you +102% poison on hit chance with Throne of Ambition.

Notes:
- Frostbite = A DoT that deals cold dam and increases chance to be Frozen by 20%. It has 36 base dam and lasts 3s. It can stack with no limit but only the first 30 stacks increase chance to be Frozen. Frostbite has a fixed base damage, but is affected by damage modifiers from the skill tree and attribute scaling of the skill that applies it.
- Build has double cold pen. Every 10% FRM you’ve got converts to 2% cold pen via Snowdrift. Every 5% uncapped cold res converts to 3% cold pen via the Knowledge of Immunity Acid Flask node. No pen cap. Pen bypasses a given amount of enemy % res. This even can go into the negative, so even on enemies with 0 res (which most enemies have) it will increase your dam.
- Contamination, Hydrochloric Acid & Lasting Sickness aren't working with cold, either bugged or the trade-off for double cold pen.
- Went Frozen Ire over dagger as FI caps necrotic res so you can get cold res elsewhere, gives 658% FRM where daggers can't get that, no good cold dagger uniques to slam, higher base dam, frees up the poison nodes you'd take for defensive nodes like Shroud of Dusk. 120% cold damage/Tundra Nova on hit are freebies.
