Lufia & The Fortress of Doom * GAMEPLAY [SNES]
3Lufia & the Fortress of Doom, known as Estpolis Denki (エストポリス伝記, Esutoporisu Denki, officially translated Biography of Estpolis) in Japan, is a role-playing video game developed by Neverland and published by Taito in 1993, for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. It is the first title in the Lufia series of video games and the only game from the series released under the Taito label in North America.
The main characters of the game are The Hero, Lufia, Aguro, and Jerin.
The gameplay involves battling monsters, earning experience points, and acquiring new abilities. The game's plot is centered around an ancient prophecy, with the main action set ninety-nine years after the initial defeat of the Sinistrals, powerful beings intending to conquer the world.
A port for the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis was planned but ultimately not released due to Taito America's closure in 1995. The game was received well upon its release and was the top-selling Super NES game in the US in February 1994. Retrospective reviews have been mixed, with some lauding its narrative and characters, while others view it as inferior to other RPGs from the same era.
