Previously, the party reached the top floor of the Red Tower near Ruan on the eastern of the three islands surrounding Elfrea. Now, it is time to confront the Red Tower's ghostly boss.

As a side note, this is your last chance to get the treasures in the basement before they are changed forever.

After a little preparation, the party talks to the ghost before the pedestal (time 0:25). After complaining about intruders, the Dark Ghost challenges them to battle. The Dark Ghost has fairly powerful physical attacks. He also has the Water spell, which can do a lot of damage to the entire party. He can heal himself with Stronger. The height of irritation is that he can use Ectoplasm to suck MP out of a party member.

Lufia's Flash-attribute magic is effective, and it is strengthened by the Flash Ring. Jerin can get on healing duty with Hi Potions or Stronger. Max and Lufia may need to supplement the healing when the Dark Ghost casts Water. Fortunately, this ghost will fall fairly quickly.

At the end of the battle, Max reaches Level 20 (time 4:15). Jerin reaches Level 20 and learns Stronger. That could have been useful here, but I'm sure it will prove useful later on.

Afterwards, the Water Fairy descends to undo the damage that the Dark Ghost had done to the Ruan area. No probs, fairy.

Then, the party drops off. They head back down to the basement through the second door from the left (time 5:31). New treasures have appeared in the basement. The south-central chest contains the Blue Jade. The western chest contains Dragon Egg #3. The eastern chest contains a Miracle (time 6:23).

Well, that takes care of getting the gems for the three towers. Now, it is time to place the gems in the correct order: blue, green, and red. They will take care of that later.

Over at Jenoba, the party stocks up on healing items (time 7:38).

Depending on the party's level, Level 5 of the Old Cave may now be available. Level 20 is required. So, the party warps over to Grenoble (time 8:08). In the adventuring area, they take on the new assignment (time 9:24). They must now find the Golden Pawn in Level 5. The reward is 3,000 gold.

Over in the Old Cave, the party takes the lift down to Level 5 (time 10:53). Be very careful in here; the enemies do not mess around. The Gold Orcs are very strong. Confusing them may help.

In the first large room, there are two treasure chests in the southwest (time 11:21). One contains a Smoke Ball. The other is empty.

They then head into the southwest room (time 11:31). The first chest on the left contains the Luck Blade. This ironically-named weapon is cursed. The next chest contains an Opal (time 13:22).

The third chest is empty (time 14:43). The fourth chest holds an Ex Potion. The fifth chest is empty.

Back in the first large room, there are toxic marshes to the north and to the south. In the southern one, the northernmost marsh tile contains a hidden Ex Potion (time 17:45).

The northeast chest contains a Kite Shield (time 17:53). This is an improvement over the Buckler.

The party heads through the northeast door (time 18:23). This leads to a northern room that is long from west to east.

The first chest contains a Hi Bomb (time 19:18). The second chest contains a Hi Potion. The third chest is empty.

The party goes through the south-central door (time 20:38). This leads to a room that is long from north to south. The western chest is empty.

The chest in the toxic marsh contains a Spell Potion (time 21:37). The southern chest contains a Revive.

The party exits south to the southern room (time 21:49). Just to the south of the door, there is a hidden Revive in the toxic marsh (time 21:57).

The eastern chest between the two doorways is empty. So is the chest right next to it. The next chest to the east contains 500 gold. The southwest chest in this cluster contains a Float.

In the southern section of this room, the chest near the boxes is empty (time 22:27). The nearby chest along the north wall contains a Power Potion.

While the party is in this room, Lufia reaches Level 20 (time 23:00).

Then, the party takes the eastern door north into a J-shaped room (time 23:20). The southwest chest contains a Battle Axe. This is a very good weapon for one of the boys, definitely better than a Long Sword. The southeast chest is empty. The northern chest is empty.

Next, the party exits north (time 23:35). The eastern door is guarded by a toxic marsh.

The lone western chest contains a Hi Bomb (time 24:32).
