One of the announcements at the June 2023 Nintendo Direct was that Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon is coming to the Switch in 2024. Nintendo clearly saw how well loved Luigi’s Mansion 3 was because that game came only came out in 2019. Previously, the series was known for long gaps in between games with twelve years between the first two and six years between Dark Moon and LM3.
Nintendo is clearly taking notice of the series increased popularity as the years go on, as the first sold around three million, Dark Moon over six and around thirteen for Luigi’s Mansion 3
With the series constantly on an upward trajectory both commercially and critically, Nintendo moving forward with a remake of Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon for the Nintendo Switch bodes very well that Next Level Games is indeed working on the fourth game in the series.
When looking at the trailer for the new Luigi’s Mansion Dark Moon and comparing it to the 3Ds version from 2013, it doesn’t look like much more than a remaster, which is great new because this means that the potential that Next Level Games is working on Luigi’s Mansion 4 is high.
It would be another perfect opportunity for Nintendo to launch the Super Switch or whatever the successor to the Switch will be called with a Luigi's Mansion title just like they did with the GameCube in 2001. With Tears of The Kingdom and Super Mario Bros Wonder both getting released in 2023, it does leave the door open for something to launch with their next system likely coming in 2024 or 2025.
Two or three years would be too short for time between new Mario or Zelda games but Luigi’s Mansion 3 came out in 2019 and Next Level Games has shown precedent of producing quality games at a high rate. Since they started working exclusively with Nintendo in 2013, before they were officially acquired, they have released games every three years. 2013, 2016, 2019, 2022 and not to break tradition but that would land us in 2025 for Luigi’s Mansion 4
