This is why eBay is so great... and so terrible on the bank balance when you get too involved! The Sony Vaio PCG-FX601 was the bottom of three PCG-FX6 laptops, but shared the very capable 1.1 GHz Mobile Duron CPU with the two higher-end models. At the time, 1.1 GHz in a laptop was not to be sniffed at, whilst the VIA KT133A was a legendary chipset in its day.

For £4, this Vaio is unreal shape; the only issues with it are that the keyboard isn't perfectly flat (which is probably my own fault anyway) and thus the power button panel doesn't go on properly, the battery "only" holds 40 minutes or so of charge (which is pretty epic for a 2002 era laptop) and there are two barely-noticeable dull spots in the bottom of the screen.

It's a shame Sony lost their way in the computer market, as this laptop shows that once upon a time, they built quality products that lasted well. Not only is it in good shape, but it really is rock solid in terms of reliability.
