Lula says he is not at the negotiating table on IOF

🌍 International Power | President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) declared this Monday (7.Jul.2025) that he is not participating in a “conciliation table” in the case of the IOF (Tax on Financial Transactions). He classified the approval of the PDL [Legislative Decree Project] as “unconstitutional”, saying that decrees are part of the Executive's jurisdiction. “I am not participating in any conciliation table.
We sent a proposal to Congress, Congress decided to do something that, in my opinion, is unconstitutional, because a decree is a priority of the government, of the Executive”, said the journalist during the Brics summit, in Rio de Janeiro.
