LV Yuri MUGEN #10: Abyss (XSlaught)... FOR REAL THIS TIME
First off, I want to apologize for deleting the first Yuri vs. Abyss video for those who saw it about a few days ago. I accidentally fought Sludge's Abyss when I wanted to fight XSlaught's. If I was to think about it, the differences were quite obvious. First and foremost, ALL THREE of Abyss' themes play and override the BGM given for a stage. Obviously enough, Sludge's didn't have such a feature. That should have waved a red flag right there. Oh well, mistakes happen, live and learn, and all that jive.
Anyway, having fought both Sludge's and XSlaught's Abysses, there really are major differences other than having its own BGM. XSlaught's is much more durable and stronger than Sludge's. All of Abyss' moves for XSlaught's version hurt like hell, while Sludge's gives little nudges in comparison. All the movements and attacks are closer to source in XSlaught's version while Sludge's seem more quirky (particularly being knocked back after defeating a form).
XSlaught's is slightly more unpredictible and his moves vary with a solid balance of attacks. Sludge's tend to go every which direction. Abyss' second form is proof of this. With Sludge's Abyss, you can wail on him for longer periods of time then either command read a super or uses those bubbles that I now loathe with a passion after fighting XSlaught's Abyss. Speaking of which, in comparison to Sludge's attack pattern, XSlaught's is more random as he will use the bubbles MUCH more often and can actually teleport (as far as I know Sludge's can't do that since I haven't seen his Abyss use it). There are also some major differences in hit detection in Abyss' third form between the two. Sludge's Abyss can't be hit everywhere as some CLNs are missing in parts of the third form's body making smaller points for it to be hit. This is while XSlaught's Abyss can be hit in every part of the body as in source. Overall, XSlaught's Abyss is simply better than Sludge's, in my honest opinion, and provides the best challenge. Oh, I forgot to mention that if you let him, XSlaught's Abyss can make a complete copy of itself for double the pain, but this is a rare occurance. If he did that in source, then I never saw it, and thankfully so.
As for Yuri, the method of beating Abyss is still the same: use the super armor against Abyss. Just plainly beat him down for all he's worth in all forms. Of course, the second form is still the most annoying since he will be spamming those bubbles. Being in a safe spot in a corner helps, but if that doesn't work, dodge rolling does fine as long as you time them accordingly. Otherwise, you will either get caught in the bubble or get caught by one of Abyss' attacks.
This was EXTREMELY longer than I anticipated fighting for slightly over nine minutes (damn those two round fights). There really needs to be an option where once you beat Abyss the first time, you don't have to do it again; auto-death in the second round or something (I also still blame the bubble spamming just as much for the long fight). Anyway, this fight was long and tiring. Endurance matches... don't you love 'em?

Vucious' Random Rant: I hate making simple mistakes. It's always those times when the signs are so obvious and yet you skip over them that make me irritated. It's almost like a chronic condition in my case. I need to stop thinking so quick, or something along those lines.
