Apple released their App Store for Macintosh today, January 6th 2011. The software is automatically installed when you update to snow leopard 10.6.6. The store offers about 1,000 free and paid applications at this time, with more third party applications as the store develops. Also, several applications are cheaper than previous versions, such as aperture which retails for $200 in store and $80 on the app store.
