For Macbook Air A1466 with 820-00165 and 820-3437 board, and potentially many other units with a similar DC IN Board, this is a signature fault that I keep finding.

If you're in a bit of a fix and don't have a spare, sometimes you can fix up your faulty DC IN board and get your audio device back.
