Machines and Bob | Rogue Plays realMyst Masterpiece Edition | 5
I realized when I fell into the fissure the book would not be destroyed as I had planned... Perhaps, the ending has not yet been written.
Welcome to RealMyst Masterpiece Edition. A 2014 re-make of the 1994 era CD game of the same name by Cyan Worlds, Inc. Lovingly recrafted in the unity engine, this version brings realtime 3D movements, along with the wonderful soundtrack and some quality of life improvments. Enhanced environments feature dynamic water, weather, lighting, foliage, and foliage among other things. In addition, a bonus age which acts as an epilogue and bridge to the sequel, Riven, is included in this edition.
I played the original as a young tween on my parent's Packard-Bell Computer using the original CD rom. I found it challenging, but not impossible. Some of the puzzles were obtuse to my childish mind, and frankly I had more interesting games to play (like Final Fantasy II or III on my Super Nintendo). Now? I find it to be a game I like to revisit when I'm in the mood to relax with ambient storytelling, atmosphere, and some light puzzle work. Sound like your cup of tea? Then let's travel the ages together!
