🚨🇲🇽 MACRO DRILL CDMX 19-S 2025: This is how the SEISMIC ALERT sounded on your CELL PHONE | Techno...
On September 19, 2025, Mexico City experienced one of the most technologically advanced and organized macro drills in its history. Commemorating the 40th anniversary of the 1985 earthquake and the 8th anniversary of the 2017 earthquake, this massive exercise integrated hyperlocal alerts on all cell phones in the city for the first time thanks to the C5 System and the SASMEX app. I'll show you how it was experienced and why it's key for the future!
🔍 What made this drill different?
• Mass alert via app: Real-time messages with exact location and evacuation routes.
• Complete technological development: Sensors in buildings, monitoring drones, and coordination with C5 cameras.
• Focus on vulnerabilities: Specific practices in areas such as Iztapalapa, Tláhuac, and the Historic Center.
📱 This is how the SASMEX app worked:
1. Personalized alerts: Based on your neighborhood and building type.
2. Risk maps: Real-time with safe meeting points.
3. Offline mode: It worked even without internet (critical in real earthquakes).
⚠️ Key data during the drill:
• The SASMEX app reported a simulated earthquake with its epicenter in Lázaro Cárdenas, Michoacán, with strong intensity on the coast and moderate intensity in Mexico City. An exercise in precision!
🏢 Record participation:
• 6.5 million people evacuated in less than 10 minutes.
• 20,000 buildings included (schools, offices, hospitals).
• Citizen brigades trained in first aid and rescue.
🎯 Objectives achieved:
• Living memory: Honoring victims of 1985 and 2017.
• Real preparation: Mexico City is now the best-prepared city in the world for earthquakes (according to the UN).
• Technology at the service of life: Integrating AI to predict optimal evacuation routes.
🔴 What's next?
• The SASMEX app will be available throughout Mexico in 2026.
• Monthly drills in schools and businesses (law approved in 2024).
