In this video, I give you my honest and brutal opinion on Madame Web, the new film from Sony’s Spider-Man Universe. Is it worth watching, or is it a waste of time and money? Find out in this non-spoiler review.
Madame Web stars Dakota Johnson as Cassandra Webb, a paramedic who develops the power to see the future and tries to save three young women from a villainous Ezekiel Sims, played by Tahar Rahim. The film also features Sydney Sweeney, Isabela Merced, and Celeste O’Connor as the three Spider-Women, Julia Cornwall, Anya Corazon, and Mattie Franklin. Madame Web is directed by S. J. Clarkson, who makes her feature film debut with this project.
The film was released on February 14, 2024, and has a runtime of 116 minutes. The budget was $80 million, but the box office was only $8.2 million, making it a huge flop.
I will tell you the positive and negative aspects of the film, and why I think it is one of the worst Spider-Man films ever made. I will also explain how the film is disconnected and unfaithful to the Spider-Man Universe and the comic book source material. I will also share some of the plot holes and inconsistencies that make the film illogical and confusing.
