This is how I’ve created the melting wax effect procedurally (no keyframe) in my latest #mondayschallenge and #motiontober2023 « candle » submission!

The technic relies almost entirely on my MoglyphFX toolset:

1. add a Linear Cloner and make clones touching each other horizontally
2. Change the clone’s Y center (aka Anchor Point) to -100%
3. Apply a Time Effector, reset its parameters and change increase its Scale.Y (T) property
4. Change the Time Effectors falloff to « Ramp up » shape and check the « Randomize Falloff Order » option in the UI panel (ANIMATE tab)
5. Make the layer look more organic by applying the Metaball FX Post Effect (in the GENERATE tab)
…and voilà
The rest of the artwork was achieved with layers style, gradients and various effects and blending modes for the flame and smoke, but I wanted to keep that one as short as possible.

You can also easily adapt this melting wax technic to create blood or liquid drips (since Halloween arrives soon ;)

As usual, you’ll find MoglyphFX and my other scripts on my aescripts author profile (link in Bio).

Stay tuned for more Moglyph tips & news ;)
