Mafia Definitive Edition Review: Martin Scorsese would be proud, don't know about gamers though...
This is our Mafia Definitive Edition Review. Though this game might seem like a Gangster-based Grand Theft Auto to those who browse casually for info about the game, it's more a scripted action game that holds your hand to the point of lividity. The story however is one of the best mafia stories in recent memory. This feels like a good old Marin Scorsese film like Goodfellas or Casino. It might seem like your standard fare "made man" mafia story but underneath its tropy vestments, you've got interesting characters with solid archs. The game also makes interesting use of foreshadowing, not unlike John Steinbeck's classic, Of Mice and Men.The game's lore is littered with accurate gangsterism references like Paul Castellano's assassination in front of Spark's Stake House or the use Tommy guns or luparas. Graphics are fantastic, voice acting is brilliant and music and sound effects are at least competent. High production values and lot's of love have been put into this one, but the gameplay remains dated even by 2002 standards. If feels as though lack of creativity kept it from being a modern day "The Saboteur".Check out ACG's Review here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NFVdN8BvnQICheck our the spreadsheet that we used in our review.
