Magical Bringer Korona - 57.2 - Game 1 Highlights: Korona vs. (possessed) Yuka (80~85 initial MGL)
At the end of the Yuka route, her sword Garyou deems Osiris an enemy to peace and harmony, and possesses her in a bid to destroy him. Korona is forced to fight her, but insists that Osiris attack only the sword.
Yuka has the game's second-highest defense (after Noel in her initial appearance, which you're expected to lose until Osiris basically cheats) and is tied with the other end bosses and a few other opponents for the most health, so expect the battle to drag on. Her regular attack, though weak, is also unusually difficult to block, and her damaging special attack can be devastating.
Korona's best bet in this fight is to endure as best she can, taking advantage of the energy bar charging at 1.5x normal speed to empower her Enter attacks, which consume the bar to inflict defense-ignoring percent-based damage proportional to the energy charged (full bar = 40% of target's max health).
This battle also has, in my opinion, the best music in the game, and considering how much I like the music overall, that's saying something. The tune is called "The Sacred Existence".
It feels like a big moment from a storytelling standpoint, too. Not exactly The Power of Friendship, but Korona's insisting on putting herself at risk and doing whatever it takes to save Yuka instead of taking the easy way out, and this is really the only time she ever gets furious, too.
Anyway, Yuka's special attacks have fancy complicated kanji names:
参拾壱式奥義 (san juu ichi shiki ougi, roughly "secret art 31")
玄武鏡 (genbu kagami, "Genbu Mirror")
霊符返し (reibu gaeshi, roughly "repelling talismans")
参拾参式奥義 (san juu san shiki ougi, roughly "secret art 33")
破邪真空閃 (haja shinkuu sen, roughly "evil-crushing vacuum flash")
I have to wonder what secret arts 1 through 30 and 32 might be.
I'm not sure of the exact Magical Girl Level (score/difficulty rating) here, but it must be at least 80 in the initial attempt because Haja Shinkuu Sen gets a feint, and it must be less than 86 because Yuka's normal attack hasn't increased to 12 hits. The maximum possible MGL coming into this battle is 92. However, not much else changes here once you're already above 80, just a few extra chips in her normal attacks and the usual damage scaling and chip speed modifiers, with the speed increases not even affecting Haja Shinkuu Sen.
The game adds up to 10 to your final score depending on how much health you have left at the end of the battle, and additionally guarantees a final score of 100 if you win at a difficulty of at least 90.
Clearing the Yuka route with a final score of at least 60 unlocks Korona+Yuka in free battle mode.
