Just wanted to see if I can get away with this.
Since content is a hard to put in the hub nowadays and I don't know any alternatives, I put this here for archiving purposes. The videos I can find of the game are all very old and low quality, so I thought I'd record one in HD.
A game I found recently, but I thought it criminal not enough attention is given to it.
You play as a weird tentacle monster, and you beat up Mayuko-chan. I'm not familiar enough with Japanese to understand the dialogue pre-fight.
This game is brutal. I love it. As an avid guro fetishist, this game hit all the right buttons for me, which is why I wanted to show it to more people. The death animations are all wonderful.
Unfortunately, I have more to say when it comes to the bad stuff.
Most Ryona games have you play as the heroine and you have to get beat up in order to experience the best part of the games which is counterintuitive to everything a game is. You are rewarded for losing, and don't get much for winning.
I like that in here, you play as the monster, so winning is how you get to the good part. Just as a good game should.
The game is very brutally unfair though, to the point of being unfun I'd say. I only kept playing because of my dedication to guro. I put links in the description archiving the two hours I spent trying to get every death animation.
It's a fighting game. no co-op though so I guess it classifies more accurately as beat-em up?
The dynamic between you and Mayuki is stupidly unfair however. The tentacle monster has a grappler playstyle. Slow, heavy, yet powerful. Despite being a grappler with tentacles though... Your range is pathetic, the frame data is atrocious, and YOU CAN'T GRAPPLE. Mayuki on the other hand, is an overtuned zoner, with a crap-ton of projectiles, fast melees, and quick get-off me tools. She makes it hard to approach, when you already have a hard time doing so in the first place.
Mayuki zooms all over, spamming projectiles. Meanwhile, all you can do is crawl slowly forwards or backwards. No dash, no jump. Just crawl.
You have 2 attack buttons, Light(A) and Heavy(B). The lights are fast and have good reach, but as you'll soon learn, you should only use them near the end of the game. Heavy attacks are powerful, but very slow, and require you to be in hugging distance in order to get hits in. Problem is your fastest heavy comes out frame 16, where as Mayuki can hit in frame 4.
You gotta do what any good grappler does to win. Play lame and defensively. Against an AI who will never get tilted from your actions and has such an overwhelming advantage, they would never get mad at you anyway and just revel in the power imbalance.
Your only way of avoiding attacks is by crouch blocking. Mayuki still deals chip damage, and the blockstun on a lot of her attacks give you no time to attack back. If you could even reach anyway.
Your one saving grace is her sword attack. Her only melee attack. Get hit by it, and if she decides she can just infinite you to death with it. Block it though, and Mayuki suffers nearly 30 frames of hitstun.
If you beat her, you may find yourself disappointed by there not being a death scene. That's because in order to get the priviledge to view it, you need to fill up your meter to 3 or higher. Mayuki's meter is just for show as she'll never run out of it. Your light attacks barely give meter. You need to use your pathetic heavies to do the job. Getting hit gives you lots of meter too. The more damage you've suffered, the more meter you gain from everything you do. So it's in your best interest to keep the match close.
The most guaranteed method I've found is by waiting for Mayuki to do her sword attack, or punishing her jump with your most powerful heavy combo B, B, 6B. The attack deals lots of damage and gives meter. It also knocks Mayuki back by half the screen and puts her in stun. The knockback is bad as it means you have to chase her, but if you can corner her, your chances get good. The combo deals too much damage, so you may just wanna go for the first 2 hits. If you want, you can actually do B, delayed B, B, 6B for more damage, but again, meter gain is not worth it.
Once you have 3 meter, your next light attack will determine what glorious suffering you'll inflict on Mayuki chan. The easiest (the one I got the most) is 5A. Second to that is grounded 2A, then it's a tie for aerial 2A and 5AA. 5AA has multiple variants. That finisher makes you spam light attacks and if you can press it enough times, you get a whole new death animation.
At some point you can reliably defeat Mayuki. So now the difficulty comes from hoping Mayuki cooperates so you can activate the death animation that you want.
Overall good, but I say just watch than play. I had to suffer for your joy. Be grateful!
