Legendary chess grandmaster and the highest-rated player ever, Magnus Carlsen, has played his final game as the classical world champion! Carlsen drew with close friend David Howell in the Norwegian League, a game which will be his last before Ding Liren and Ian Nepomniachtchi battle in the 2023 FIDE World Championship!
Carlsen stated "In terms of world championship, I've sort of mentally been finished with that a while ago...I still have two titles," alluding to his World Blitz and Rapid World Championship titles.
