It's EVERSPACE! A game I helped Kickstart, and finally got my hands on. EVERSPACE is in Beta at the moment, and the game is amazing, so far. While it lacks HOTAS and HOGAS support so far, it's definitely playable with a controller or Mouse+Keyboard. Everspace is a first person space shooter and each run is unique. The goal is always to reach your destination but the journey is not that simple. Players will face new challenges with every attempt and the obstacles in their way vary each time they play. Every time they start a new run, a new course will be plotted and players will find themselves having to adapt to new battles by using different techniques. Along the way, players will also need to gather credits and resources for repairs and upgrades as well as the required fuel needed to power up the jump drive before they can enter a new system.
Upon death players will lose their resources and equipment but will keep any available credits and blueprints to help them get started again. They can permanently upgrade shield capacity, install better engines, improve sensors and weapons and attach armor plating. There are other perks that can become available as well. Death is expected but should not be punished. It is part of the progression.
Since rogue-like games are not normally known for their stories, the developers have come up with a system to tell a story in a non-linear way that is still engaging. Every time the player dies, they return with a deeper knowledge of what is actually happening and ultimately, solve the great puzzle.
