Mambo a Go Go Showcase (Boot, Demos, and Test Mode)
Took a while to get to this, but I am finally ready to start uploading the series of videos showcasing Konami's early one-off BEMANI game, Mambo a Go Go! This game essentially combines aspects of Drummania and Pop'n Music with an eclectic selection of (mostly) Latin-style music. And judging by how half of its tracks ended up later Pop'n games, I'd say there were a lot of staff/fan favorites.
This first video simply shows off the boot up for the game, attract mode demos, and test mode. Fairly standard if you're familiar with the other games on the Konami 573 hardware. The game also does work fully in MAME despite it and the other 573 hardware games being flagged as "MACHINE_NOT_WORKING" and "MACHINE_IMPERFECT_SOUND". I'm going to guess this is a result of minor inaccuracies (notably occasional audio and visual glitches) in either this or the more popular games, but nothing large enough to really detract from the overall experience.
You can also find the files needed to play this in either the official MAME Romset or on various ROM hosting sites around the internet. I won't be hosting any links for this, so please do not ask.
That being said, this is easily one of my favorite BEMANI games (which ain't saying much cuz most of them are pretty great).
Enjoy! And don't forget to subscribe for more goodies like this in the future!
