Very Hard, is absolutely nuts, or at least it was until I realized MAME had a low latency option I should have turned on. But hey, what were you expecting from a game that's in the same franchise as Beatmania and Pop'n? This difficulty being hidden by a code (along with every mod) makes me think this game was never even intended to get a sequel. Like the previous difficulty, all three pads of each drum are used for the most realistic and difficult play. This mode also has an exclusive song, "Krank heit" (German for "disease"), which is easily the hardest song in the entire game. Check out those eight stars.

"Gamelan de Couple", which is normally a two player song on Normal and Hard (and as such will be getting its own video), is single player here. For some reason "La brise d'été" was removed entirely, I have no clue why this is. My guess is that there was a size limit on the song select screen, so it was swapped out for "Krank heit".

Mods:
What? Mambo a Go Go has mods?!

Yeah bro.

All of the mods require hidden passcodes entered with the drums. The same is true for accessing Very Hard, which requires a quick drumroll on the right conga. Along with my footage, I've added a link for the official site which details all of this and more:

Random - Code: Left Center Right Left Center Right
Randomizes the "chip" (i.e. note) patterns.

Hide - Code: Left Right Right Right
There are three options to cycle through here, Hidden, Sudden, and Blink. These may be familiar if you've played any other BEMANI games, but Hidden hides the notes as they reach the line at the bottom, Sudden reveals the notes near the bottom, and Blink simply flickers the notes, making them harder to see.

Fast - Code: Left Center Center Center Center
Potentially the most useful mod for newer players. This speeds up the rate of the notes' descent, which also spaces them out making them easier to read. Sometimes at least. The only options are x2 and x4 sadly, but I suppose the lack of options wasn't uncommon in 2001.

Mirror - Code: Left Right Left Right Left Right
Flips the chart around. Left conga notes are on the right, etc.

Full Cancel - Code: Right Center Left
Cancels all active mods.
