Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time - Nerve Mode was a fun experience, though it was just a little too much on the easy side. So let's try again! Ladies and gents, welcome to a new take on the Partners in Time Nerve Mode run, "Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time - Finite Nerve Mode." This will be a live stream series that mimics the challenge run of the original Nerve Mode, but with one extra twist to spice the game up: four of the Bros. Items are banned from use! All of these Bros. Items are items that have the capability to be in use infinitely.
They are... the Red Shell, the Pocket Chomp, the Trampoline, and most notably, the Copy Flower. Three of these four items are the reason the original run was largely so easy, so in this series, I'll be restricting use of them entirely. So, with all of that said, let's enjoy the show!

Nerve Mode is a multi-restriction, full-playthrough challenge of the Mario & Luigi games and the hardest variant of STACHE Only. The purpose of the run is to strip the player of nearly everything that gives them power and challenge them to complete the game under specific conditions. The only method of healing is to finish a tutorial or boss fight.

Note - Due to the fact that certain tutorials require you to do things that would break the rules, exceptions will occur for tutorials. However, this is only for tutorials that cannot be skipped.

RULES & EXPLANATIONS:
1. STACHE Only
- When leveling up in Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time, all stats are upgraded a small amount. However, the player also gets to use a bonus roulette that can increase one stat by a larger amount. This roulette is only allowed to be used on STACHE, regardless of the situation.
2. No Gear
- As soon as the player has the ability to, they must unequip all overalls/pants of any kind from both the Mario Bros. and the Baby Bros. This will require that the player unequip gear on two separate occasions, as the earliest chance for the Mario Bros. to unequip gear occurs before the earliest chance for the Baby Bros. to unequip gear. No gear may be equipped from this point.
3. No Badges
- The player is not allowed to equip any badges under any circumstance. There is a tutorial in the game that will require the player to equip the Salvage Badge on Mario. As soon as the tutorial is finished, the badge must be unequipped.
4. No Recovery Blocks
- Throughout the game are various blue-colored blocks with hearts in them. When struck, these blocks will fully recover the party's HP. The player is not allowed to use Recovery Blocks at any point in the game.
5. No Items
- The player is not allowed to use any items for the purpose of restoring HP or gaining or removing status effects in battle or in the Overworld.
6. No Purchasing Bros. Items
- In Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time, Bros. Attacks take the form of expendable items. These Bros. Items are not allowed to be purchased from shops. They can only be obtained from tutorials, enemies, or ? blocks.
7. No Infinite Bros. Items (*New to Finite Nerve Mode)
- The Red Shell, Pocket Chomp, Trampoline, and Copy Flower are banned due to their capability to theoretically be used infinitely. The Mix Flower can technically be used infinitely also, but the attack must end for a single hit of damage to be done. Additionally, the Mix Flower is almost necessary for defeating the final boss, and thus, it is not banned.
