Manitou Fight (SMT: Soul Hackers)
stressful fight lol, great game though, loved the aesthetic and the demon designs a ton, story was maybe a tad lacking(?) but i don't play smt games for the story until the story grabs me and makes me care about it.
looking back at the fight, I have a sneaking suspicion that Magical Mirror triggers a Megidolaon, which actually luckily benefited me as it only killed Nyx, my only demon with a defense buff (Rakukaja). Nemissa has Necroma, which allows you to resurrect a dead ally. they take no damage, as a result of their HP being 0, but if you heal them, they go back to being dead (which means you can just use Necroma again and repeat the process).
I still don't fully understand the fight or why Manitou guards so frequently, but he packs such a punch on the turns he decides to Megadolaon, that, while maybe the guarding turns are intended to be merciful, it just ends up feeling like at any moment you or your party can die at any moment regardless of how many buffs you have on you. The guard turns feel like the game is saying "okay you survived another turn, now prepare for the next wave of insane damage". All this to say, without Necroma (or Megidola for that matter) on Nemissa, I definitely would have had a much harder time of this boss, probably would have had to grind and fuse demons to specifically beat this boss.
