Manual Pick & Placing my USB-C meter boards at midnight.. when I should be sleeping.
Classic problem of being too late in the night to start doing any work but too early to go to sleep properly, so natually I went with forcing myself to get some work done anyhow.
Tonight I'm assembling 4 units of the new USB-C meter that I'll soon start selling.
These USB-C meters are different from the typical ones you see in that they hook up to the PC for power & data ( technically you can also just power them from a USB-mini 5V source ). The primary purpose of the unit is to supply data to the PC for the use of logging or on-screen-display (OSD). These PLD USB-C meters can be used in series with existing meters.
The 8x2 reflective CoG display carries enough information for most diagnosis work.
A feature of the PLD-USBC Meter is that it also has the D+/D- lines cut, but are able to be reconnected if desired, in order to protect deviced against bad PSU/cables which may put 20V on to the D+/- lines.
28V mode is supported for the new Macbook Magsafe3 power bricks as well.
