Marble Zone [SONIC THE HEDGEHOG/MIRROR MODE]
4Aesthetically speaking- this is probably my favorite zone in Sonic the Hedgehog. The contrast between the cold walls and the hot lava make for a fresh viewing experience, and playing it backwards kept my memory of the zone foggy. I was visiting a relative I don't see often when I first saw Sonic as a kid, and this was the level I first laid eyes on. I knew I needed to get my hands on it.. in time.
Marble Zone takes Sonic above and below ground. Lava bubbles up from the underground and often causes Sonic to stray from his intended course.. These levels also hide many secrets in the walls, and playing them backwards made familiar hiding spots feel foreign.
