Mario & Wario - Mario's forgotten SNES adventure
Mario & Wario is a Japan exclusive Super Nintendo game that is played entirely with the Super Nintendo Mouse! Because it was only ever released for the Super Famicom, there are likely many people who have never played or perhaps even heard of this game, so today we are going to figure out just what it's all about by looking at everything from the box and manual, all of the way to doing an in-depth analysis of the game itself. If you've ever wanted to learn more about this game, then this is the video for you!
It was originally released back in 1993, although through the years it has received a number of references in Nintendo games that have been localized to North America, including a bit of text in Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow found inside a house in Saffron City which hints at the game being played, as well as there being a trophy in Super Smash Bros. Melee of the bucket Wario drops on Mario's head.
Unlike most Super Mario or Wario games which tend to be platformers, Mario & Wario is actually a puzzle game! Consisting of over 100 levels and 10 worlds, The player must use the SNES Mouse to control a fairy named Wanda who can use their wand to guide Mario in different directions, as well as cause various blocks to appear and disappear. And despite what the title may lead you to believe, aside from Mario you can actually play as Peach and Yoshi as well!
So is Mario & Wario a lost gem, or is it a game that was better off left in Japan? And what exactly was the reason for it never being localized to North America or Europe? In this video we're going to discuss all of these things and more!
